About me
I was born in Terracina (Latina) on March 10th 1972.
Since I was child I was fascinated by long distances communications through the
ether, I have practically consumed my first two walkie-talkie until their
dead, caused from the unavoidable use of my first "screwdrivers" made with the kitchen
knives of my mother!
I have obtained Ham licence on August 10th 1993 like IK0VVE, after several
experiences like CB, a lot SWL and BCL.
Three lifes are not enough to have experience on all the frequencies and the transmission
modes that an amateur radio operator has to use, therefore my activity has concerned
mostly to the HF, building any possible kind of antenna. On my parent's roof house
I alternated around to an homemade 14 meters telescopic tower with triband 4 elements
yagi on top, dipoles, long wires, sloopers, loops, one 2 el lpda for the 40 meters
(fixed eh!...), various loaded verticals for 40 and 80 without to forget the only
one qso that I have carried out in 160 meters from my house tuning the tower, I
could have made more better, but my mother had just to dry those clothes on the
terrace! On the higher frequencies I made a 4 el. yagi for cluster and repeaters
use, a wide dipole band that seemed vaguely to an EH, 2 el. UHF quad and a 8 el
quagi always for UHF. I have moreover made and then tried in wider zones typical
dualband dipoles for 40-80 and full size (what a satisfaction!) for 160 meters.
Sure, I have made other "damages" but now I don't remember them!.
Activities
My preferred emition mode is CW, becouse of not high position of my parent's house
between the other buildings in Terracina, my RF was not diffused for best signals,
but I used SSB, RTTY and SSTV. I made some contest as single and multi operator
in HF and VHF.
I partecipated as radio attendance to sea swim races and rallies.
Now
Some year ago I started VLF activity on Natural Radio band with my friend Erminio
IZ0GIF (animated...we call him joking!). We published our site Radionatura (for
now in italian) to show our little experiencies on this very interesting field.
I'm married from april 2003 with a fantastic woman which gave me a wonder boy!
I work for a plant of Norsk Hydro Aluminium in electronic maintenance. My various
hobbies came from electronic, radio, astronomy, programming, nature, music, specially
new age.
I'm very naturally curious, do you remember my first screwdrivers??
